SAFETY & CERTIFICATION
Ceros Racing only provides FIA certified racing seats and harnesses. An FIA-certified racing seat is a seat that has been tested and approved by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motorsport. FIA certification ensures that our seats meets strict safety and performance standards to protect drivers in high-risk motorsport environments, particularly during high-impact crashes or collisions.
1. Material and Construction
- Reinforced Materials: FIA-certified seats are typically made from high-strength materials like fiberglass, carbon fiber, or Kevlar to provide superior protection without being too heavy.
- Rigid Design: The seat is built to hold the driver securely in place during a crash, minimizing movement that could lead to injury.
2. Safety Standards
- Impact Protection: FIA-certified seats are designed to absorb and distribute the forces from crashes or high-G maneuvers, reducing the risk of injury.
- Harness Compatibility: These seats are specifically designed to work with 6-point or 5-point harness systems, which help restrain the driver securely during an impact.
- Head and Neck Support: Many FIA-certified seats include provisions for head and neck protection (like a HANS device), further reducing the risk of injury.
3. Crash Testing
- The seat must undergo rigorous testing to simulate real-world racing conditions and crashes. The FIA has a set of stringent guidelines that the seat must meet, and this is verified through extensive crash testing.
- The seat's performance in various impact scenarios, such as frontal and lateral impacts, is evaluated to ensure the driver is kept safe during a collision.
4. Certification Label
- FIA-certified seats carry a specific label or stamp indicating they meet the latest FIA safety standards. This certification is generally valid for a specific number of years (often 5 years), after which the seat may need to be recertified or replaced.
5. Purpose
- FIA-certified seats are required in professional motorsports such as Formula 1, WRC, Le Mans, and other sanctioned events where safety is a top priority. For amateur racers or track-day enthusiasts, FIA-certified seats are recommended for added safety.
Overall, an FIA-certified racing seat ensures that the seat meets global safety standards, offering crucial protection to drivers in motorsport events.
